How to prevent changes to your books

Locking periods is important to prevent changes to your books, especially after filing tax returns or after closing an accounting year.

How to lock periods

  1. Go to your organization workspace in the top left corner of the side menu
  2. Click on Lock Periods
  3. Create a new lock:
    1. Select an organization to lock.
    2. Enter a lock date. Any transactions that will be attempted to be created on or before the lock date will be disallowed.
    3. Under Status, choose Locked.

When a user attempts to create a transaction in a locked period, they will get an error message letting them know that the period is locked.
