Locking periods is important to prevent changes to your books, especially after filing tax returns or after closing an accounting year.
How to lock periods
- Go to your organization workspace in the top left corner of the side menu
- Click on
- Create a new lock:
- Select an organization to lock.
- Enter a lock date. Any transactions that will be attempted to be created on or before the lock date will be disallowed.
When a user attempts to create a transaction in a locked period, they will get an error message letting them know that the period is locked.
