A business or a person who is involved in producing, importing, transferring, or stockpiling excise goods should register and pay for excise. Businesses cannot take part in any transaction that involves excise goods unless they have registered for excise tax first.

A late registration will result in an administrative penalty of 20,000 AED.
What are the documents required for the registration for excise tax?
Provide the following documents during registration to authenticate your information:
- A copy of the passport.
- The Emirates ID.
- The trade license.
- Other official documents approving the business to administer activities within the UAE.
What are the business details required for the excise tax registration?
- The role for which you are registering for excise tax, such as a producer, importer, transporter, stockpiler, etc.
- The details of the excise goods with which the business is involved.
- If applicable, the details of the Customs Authority registration.
- If registered in another GCC state, provide the TRN for that GCC state.
How do I register for excise goods?
- Go to the FTA’s e-portal and log in to your account.
- Open the EX101 form to start the registration process.
- After reading the Excise Tax – Getting Started Guide, check the box at the bottom to proceed with your registration.
- Complete the About the applicant fields.
- Provide the Details of the applicant.
- Fill out the applicant's contact details.
- Complete the Declaration.
- Fill out the Checklist for completion and submit your application.
