Business Regulations Brief

Urgent: FTA Deadline for Corporate Tax Registration – May 31, 2024

Corporate Tax Registration

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has announced an urgent reminder for resident juridical persons with licenses issued in January and February of any year to register for Corporate Tax by May 31, 2024. This call to action ensures compliance with UAE tax law and avoids potential administrative penalties.

The activation time

The FTA's directive comes as part of enforcing Decision No. 3 of 2024, which specifies the registration guidelines and was activated on March 1, 2024. Cabinet Decision No. 10 further supports these regulations by imposing penalties on entities that fail to meet the registration deadline.

Taxable entities are advised to consult the comprehensive guides available on the FTA’s official website and review all related decisions to fully understand their obligations under the law.

Registration Process:

The registration can be seamlessly completed via the EmaraTax digital tax services platform, which integrates a straightforward, four-step process that approximately takes 30 minutes. Entities already registered for VAT or Excise Tax can expedite their Corporate Tax registration through their existing accounts on EmaraTax.

For new users, the FTA has provided detailed instructions on creating a new user profile on the EmaraTax platform, accessible through the FTA’s e-Services portal.

Assistance and Support:

To assist in the registration process, the FTA has facilitated multiple Government Service Centres across the UAE, staffed with specialists to provide necessary support and ensure adherence to government standards in service delivery. Once registration is submitted, the accuracy of the entered data is verified, and the FTA reviews the applications promptly, issuing a Tax Registration Number (TRN) via email upon approval.

The FTA's enforcement of these regulations underscores the importance of timely compliance with the UAE’s tax system, aiming to maintain economic integrity and transparency. All affected juridical persons are encouraged to act swiftly to meet the approaching deadline, utilizing the resources and support provided by the FTA to facilitate this essential registration process.
