Why can't I delete an account?

Deleting accounts:

To delete an account, right-click on the account you wish to delete, then click Delete row.

You cannot delete an account if:

  • It has transactions

or

  • It is a system account, such as Accounts Receivable.

If you’d like to delete a non-system account, delete all transactions associated with it (i.e. invoices, bills, expenses, credit notes, debit notes, manual journals, payments), then delete it from the Chart of Accounts.
